Persecution and martyrdom of Christians has occurred for centuries in many countries, yet many believe that America is exempt. During the 1970s and 1980s when the church seemed so strong in the U.S., everybody thought it could never happen here.
Nevertheless, in an endeavor to prepare the Body of Christ for what God’s Word and Spirit revealed – I warned even then, that believers in the U.S. would one day be persecuted and possibly martyred. These days are rapidly approaching. (Keep in mind that for over 40 years Jeremiah prophesied of coming judgment before it was fulfilled by the invading Babylonians.)
Biblical Christians in America today are like the Jews were in Nazi Germany shortly before the “night of broken glass” – the only difference is we have nowhere to escape as persecution will eventually envelop the entire world.
The true underlying motivation for persecuting Christians by both the apostate church and the secular world is the very reason the media so enthusiastically touts aberrant and perverse behavior and lifestyles – hostility toward God and His Word. It is interesting to note that Scripture prophesied 2,000 years ago that end time believers would be persecuted for the Word of God and their testimony of Jesus.
For over 30 years I have been writing and speaking about an unprecedented wave of persecution coming to America, as well as in virtually every part of the world. Christians will face a level of persecution never before experienced in the U.S. or globally. It will cause some to deny their faith but will purify many others and plant the seeds for the long awaited revival – that will peak during the Tribulation period.
Jesus foretold a time when there would be “great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short” (Matthew 24:21, 22).
The greatest revival in history will occur during the Tribulation – in the midst of fierce persecution and apostasy (a falling away from the Lord and His Word). In spite of
the Gospel being suppressed and believers being oppressed, millions of people worldwide will come to faith in Jesus Christ. Coming out of the Tribulation will be:
a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands” (Revelation 7:9).
