An Invitation to Visit the Holy Land

Announcing our upcoming 11th “Holy Land Adventure,” February 13-21, 2021 – $3,891 from New York

Bill Rudge Ministries invites you to come with us on an unforgettable trip to the land of the Bible. This will be our 11th journey to the Holy Land and we have personally customized what we believe to be the best tour at the best price – maximizing your time for a truly life-changing experience. Bill also has led numerous mission teams to many countries. Each tour has been outstanding and we will do everything possible to make this another incredible trip!

The Holy Land Adventure will be filled with ancient biblical history, culture and spiritual blessings as we walk where Jesus and the patriarchs, prophets and apostles walked. Traveling through the land of the Bible – where God became flesh and where Jesus taught, healed, died and rose from the dead – will provide a deeper understanding of Scripture. It will come alive before your eyes as you encounter the people, places and events of the Bible. It has been said that we read the Scripture in black and white, but upon visiting the Holy Land our eyes will see in color. Bible scholars say a pilgrimage to the Holy Land is equal to one year of Bible college.

For example, no longer will the word, Capernaum, just be a place mentioned in the Bible. It will be a place you have seen with your eyes and walked upon with your feet.

Instead of just reading about accounts such as Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, you will see the Jordan and have an opportunity to be baptized in it or watch others doing so. Imagine yourself going on a nature walk to ancient ruins in Dan, sailing in a boat on the Sea of Galilee where the storms were calmed, floating in the Dead Sea, ascending by cable car to magnificent Masada, exploring the Ein Gedi oasis and Judean Wilderness, roaming the tranquil countryside and shores of the Sea of Galilee and the Mediterranean, seeing Jesus’ birth place and exploring a cave where it may have actually occurred, walking the vibrant markets and streets of Jerusalem, sharing Christ’s love with Jews and Palestinians, discovering the most recent plans to rebuild the Temple, attending a Messianic service in Jerusalem, having communion near the site where our Lord was crucified and rose from the dead, entering the Garden Tomb, standing on the Mount of Olives where Jesus is coming back one day, and many other sacred experiences.

A trip to the Holy Land with Bill, Karen and Dr. BJ Rudge will be a spiritual pilgrimage, an exciting adventure and a fruitful mission. Tour members will visit traditional sites as well as explore places and have adventures rarely visited or experienced by tourists. We will also bless Russian Immigrant Jews, Palestinians and Arab Christians with clothes, supplies and some of our books and CDs.

You will never be the same! The scenes, smells, sounds and spiritual experiences of those moments will be etched in your memory. Fun, fellowship and new friends are also highlights of our tours.

This trip is much more than a vacation. As well as being a pilgrimage and adventure, it will also be a mini-mission trip. Some who have gone on previous Holy Land Adventures with us raised funds by selling sandwiches or baked goods after church and sending letters to family and friends.

I know that one of the major concerns about going to the Holy Land is SAFETY. If you talk to anyone who has made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land they will tell you that they felt safer, and the people more friendly, than in their home town! Maranatha Tours is one of the best Holy Land Travel companies and we have booked Olga, one of the best guides in all of Israel.

Once our team is assembled we will begin sending you biblical and other resources to prepare you spiritually and physically. We will also have a few meetings before the trip with those from our area and phone conversations or e-mail briefings with those who live outside our area.

We would love to have you come with us on this inspirational, faith-building and life-changing journey. Ask a family member or friend to join you. Don’t delay! Space is limited. We would like to limit the size of our group to 25 or less to allow more time to walk where Jesus walked and learn what Jesus taught. We are able to visit more sites with longer stays (almost 1/3 more than the regular 40 person tours). (The price on the brochure reflects a $100 discount for the first 25 people who sign up.)

Special blessings await you. We pray (and fast) that everyone who goes with us will have a profound spiritual experience and also have a positive impact on one or more people they meet in Israel and Palestinian Territory. At the end of this extraordinary tour two things will most certainly be changed, you, and your understanding of the Bible.

A three minute slide show and photo gallery of our previous Holy Land Adventures can be viewed at www.billrudge.org (under Ministries then under Holy Land Adventure).

Israel is becoming a very popular destination so we want to lock in our hotels and airfare as soon as possible. We are here to serve you and make this the best trip of your life! Come along and enjoy experiences that are timeless and memories that will last a lifetime!

Blessings,
Bill and Karen Rudge

Noble-Minded Believers

Jim Weikal

Two distinguishing marks of committed believers are found in Acts 17:10–12:

  1. An eagerness and willingness to hear God’s message from Paul and Silas and learn from it. (Go to church with an attitude of expectation that God speaks through His Word.)
  2. A personal dependence on Scripture to evaluate the message Paul and Silas were preaching. (Examine everything by the Bible.)
  3. Believers are encouraged to subject all teaching to the biblical standard. Consider the following passages: Romans 16:18; 2 Corinthians 11:3; Galatians 6:7; Ephesians 5:6; 2 Thessalonians 2:3; Titus 1:10; James 1:16; 1 John 2:26; 3:7; 2 John 7; Revelation 12:9; 13:14; 18:23; 19:20; 20:3, 8, 10.
  4. Checking out all teaching from those who represent Christ is not being overly critical, but is – according to Luke – “more noble-minded” (Acts 17:11).

Power Fasting

Bill Rudge

At the beginning of January, Karen and I fast for a week or more as we pray through our Personal, Family, and Ministry Prayer and Fasting lists. This is an intense; special time of prayer and Scripture study to seek the Lord’s direction and goals for the coming year.

Similar to the principle of lifting weights, I tear myself down physically, emotionally and spiritually through fasting – only to be rebuilt – stronger for the new year. Along with the tremendous spiritual benefits, there are some amazing physical and mental benefits.

At the age of 30 my health was eroding. The indulgent, injurious lifestyle of my younger years were catching up with me. So I prayed, “Lord, if You want me to continue in the ministry, I need Your help.” I am convinced that the Lord honored that earnest prayer by leading me into fasting and nutrition. As a result, I have seen tremendous benefits in obeying His biblical principles of health and fitness.

Many Christians and Christian leaders needlessly suffer from the consequences of being undisciplined, overindulgent and from violating God’s natural health laws. God is calling for a body of believers who will not only serve Him wholeheartedly but also walk in discipline and self-control. Remember, we are not to be mastered by anything or anyone but Him.

Throughout Scripture, the people of God have faced insurmountable circumstances and obstacles. When they humbled themselves and sought the Lord with all their hearts, through prayer and fasting, He intervened in miraculous ways.

I can testify that what was written in the Bible thousands of years ago is true because I have witnessed the God of the Bible do some awesome things in my life and ministry. I have documented in my personal records numerous accounts of supernatural intervention in the midst of impossible situations, and recorded many of the lessons the Lord has taught me. The Impossible (a record of my life and ministry) and Adventures In Missions (a record of my mission trips) are laced with miraculous accounts of what has occurred as a result of fasting, prayer, faith and obedience.

The Temple of Artemis

A Lesson for Us Today from the Church at Ephesus
“To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” Rev. 2:7

by BJ Rudge, Ph.D.

214 Ephesus was an important seaport city of the Roman province of Asia. It was the home of the famous temple of Artemis. As one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the temple of Artemis attracted pilgrims from all over the Roman empire. The temple played a central role in the life of Ephesus, not only as a place of worship, but also serving as a bank. Those who lived in Ephesus were extremely loyal to Artemis as recorded in Paul’s encounter with Demetrius in Acts 19.

The apostle Paul commissioned Timothy to oversee the church at Ephesus. One particular problem that Timothy faced in addition to the influence of Artemis, was the infiltration of false teachings into the church. Paul admonished Timothy to remain steadfast to what he had been taught:

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Paul knew it was the Word of God which would give Timothy and the church at Ephesus the spiritual discernment and strength it needed to remain true to the faith.

Just like Timothy, we find ourselves being bombarded today by a panoply of spiritual teachings; we are surrounded by a smorgasbord of beliefs. In the midst of this plurality of teachings, how do we spiritually discern what is and what is not of the Truth? People I encounter often use the “Jesus rule,” trying to answer this question. As long as what is being taught mentions Jesus enough times, then surely it must be right! Others appeal to their subjective experience and conclude that if it makes them feel better or closer to God, then it must be right.

However, proclaiming the name of Jesus and subjective experience are, in themselves, insufficient to avoid the deception of false teaching. An objective standard by which to spiritually discern the array of teachings and practices around us is required. In the case of the Christian, God has given us this objective standard — the Word of God. Just as Paul urged Timothy and the church at Ephesus to be equipped with the truth of Scripture, so must believers today.

Several years ago I had the opportunity to go to Turkey and visit the ancient city of Ephesus. I was amazed at how this leading city of the past was merely a pile of rubble. All that was left of the temple of Artemis (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world) was a single standing column. As I looked upon the stone and marble, I realized that the church at Ephesus, which once stood for the Truth in this city of religious pluralism, was now among the ruins of the past.

Many Christians today are caught up in the various spiritual teachings of our time. With little or no discernment, they run from one idea to another and from one mystical experience to the next. This lack of spiritual discernment by the church today will come to a sad end — just as in Ephesus. Unless we are grounded in God’s Word, we will not have the spiritual maturity needed to escape the spiritually counterfeit dangers of our time.

Lest we suffer the same tragic fate as the church at Ephesus, we must maintain a love and passion for Jesus Christ by never leaving our first love (Revelation 2:4). My prayer is that all believers discern and reject the infiltration of false teaching. We must study, search and reflect upon Scripture, then apply it to our daily lives. It is reassuring to know that biblical Christians are overcomers who will be granted the right to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God (Revelation 2:7).

Looking Back at 2018

by Jim Weikal

“Absolutely pointless!” says the spokesman. “Absolutely pointless! Everything is pointless” (Ecclesiastes 1:2).

As you look back at 2018, how do you feel? How were those 365 plus days? Your 52 weeks? Hopefully you don’t feel as Solomon did nearing the end of his life that it was all “vanity” or “pointless.”

You may be looking to set some new goals for 2019:

better house, lucrative job, career advancement, new car, wedding, weight loss, an island vacation, perhaps.

None of these objectives are naturally bad, but how about some spiritual goals:

read some verses of Scripture daily, pray for family, fill a need in your church. You can think of more ideas yourself.

Following Solomon’s evaluation of his life – after decades of pleasure, prestige and security – he has this advice to share with you as you seek to set goals for 2019:

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13–14).

So, set high and lofty goals like fearing God and keeping God’s commandments. For someday this same God is going to look back on your days and what is He going to see?
